Duplicate Sametime tray icons

If you have the full Samtime client installed and also install the imbedded IM awareness in the Notes client you end up with two icons in the system tray. Is there anyway to disable the Notes Sametime tray icon for these users?

I know that Mary Beth Raven asked this question on her blog before 8.0 went gold, but is there any thought on revisiting this behavior?
